What's Accepted?

NEWSPAPERS
Keep dry
– wet newspapers cannot be sold
Sorting is recommended but not essential

CARDBOARD

Cardboard boxes, cereal boxes, cake mix boxes, cracker boxes (any cardboard from food items)
No waxed or plastic treated

Recycled cardboard is used to make the core of corrugated cardboard

PAPER
Mixed paper, junk mail, assorted colors
White paper, typing paper, notebook paper
Computer paper, computer sheets & shredded paper
No phone books or thick catalogs
Sorting is recommended but not essential

Recycled office paper is used to make the finished layer of cereal boxes

PLASTICS
Clear or P.E.T.E. (such as soda containers or Gatorade)
White or H.D.P.E. (such as milk cartons, water containers, orange juice containers)
Containers must be clean
If you are unsure if your plastic is P.E.T.E or H.D.P.E, check it's label for one of these 2 symbols.

MOTOR OIL/TRANSMISSION FLUID
                                   
Place used motor oil into a clean container with a tight fitting lid.  A clean gallon jug can be used.  Do not mix with other liquids such as water, antifreeze, brake fluid, gasoline, paint thinner or solvents. No containers larger than 5 gallons will be accepted.

ANY SCRAP METAL, ALUMINUM,  WIRE, OLD TIN, LAWN MOWERS

OIL FILTERS
50 ’ disposal charge per filter
It is not necessary to drain your used oil filter
Used oil filters are crushed to remove the motor oil and then recycled into steel products

ANTIFREEZE
                                   
Place antifreeze in a clean container with a tight fitting lid.  A clean gallon milk jug can be used.  Do not mix antifreeze with other liquids such as water, motor oil, brake fluid, gasoline, paint thinner or solvents. No containers larger than 5 gallons will be accepted.

REFRIGERATORS, FREEZERS, AIR CONDITIONERS
$25.00 fee to remove freon/motors/condensers

DISHWASHERS, WASHING MACHINES, HOT WATER HEATERS, STOVES
No charge for removal of elements/motors

SOLID WASTE
County bags are required
                                   
The county must pay to dispose of the solid waste; therefore, there is a $2.00 charge for each Fayette County bag.  Only bags purchased with “Fayette County” printed on them will be accepted.
